About polling staff training
The Returning Officer cannot employ people to work in a polling place if training is not completed, therefore all polling staff must complete mandatory training to be able to work on the day of poll.
Legislation and procedures change from election to election, therefore experienced staff must not rely on past experience – it is important you also read the polling staff handbook carefully in advance of polling day to ensure that you are clear about the procedures and requirements for this election. Access the handbook either by clicking on the handbook tab above or below.
For this election the mandatory election training consists of an online electronic polling session which will introduce you to the electronic polling equipment before the day of poll and a 2 hour face to face session in the City Chambers.
There are two face to face training sessions planned for this election, Thursday 27 August and Monday 31 August.
